Remember when when installing something meant plugging it in? When something didn't work, it was clear what the problem was and you either replaced it or got it serviced. You didn't have to figure out what was wrong with it or fix it.
No more. I was using an old Macbook Air for some exercise classes I bought and then for a monthly subscription for daily classes. I decided to end the subscription and suddenly I couldn't sign in to the website and get access to my library of classes.
I sent an email to the company and got back a suggestion to sign in using the whole web address. It made no difference. It seemed so odd that it had been fine while the subscription was still in force and now nothing.
Finally, I tried the app on my phone and it worked. I also tried signing in on a newer Macbook Air and it also worked and I was able to access my library. So for whatever reason, the old Macbook Air would not work for that website anymore.
Last week, comments on the blog wouldn't publish. And despite checking the help tab and looking online, there were no answers how to fix it. All I could do was wait and hope it righted itself. About a day later, it did.
Luckily, there are a few things that are still old school and don't require being a technology wizard. My washing machine got out of balance and was suddenly wobbly. My son was sure you had to adjust the legs from the bottom. Good luck with that since there isn't even access to the back legs unless you can pull the washing machine out from it's alcove. My son shook his head when I told him the way I had fixed other washers we'd had with the same problem and even Youtube vidoes backed up. You have to fuss with the washer, pushing it off the legs and they adjust on their own. It took me a number of times pushing the front, then the back and then the corners, but the washer is now stable.

Good morning -- All the "stuff" nowadays can create problems that are a pain to deal with. Remember the days of tv sets that had tubes that could be replaced -- you could adjust the vertical and horizontal hold. Now when something happens, the set is tossed out and a new one is purchased.
I used to follow a program on PBS called ":Lilias, Yoga and You." Really enjoyed it. I had the first Jane Fonda exercise video tape -- a friend would come over every Saturday morning and we'd do it together. Then I'd fix us pancakes with cinnamon apple topping and a drizzle of maple syrup. Probably negated all the good we got from exercising but it sure was good!!
My plant project in the shared breezeway area of my condo is finished. I got a very nice note from a neighbor, thanking me for doing it. That was appreciated. .
Another young friend is having a baby -- she doesn't want to know the sex so I'm making a yellow and white blanket. Doing alternate rows of color in a big granny square -- love the checkered look that creates.

THEY'RE BACK !! Just as I thought those cute little ants had gone away for the season, I opened a cupboard this morning and it was "alive". All those little soldiers running around, playing games, rolling on their backs laughing. I have a hard time getting things from cupboards from the wheelchair, so I had a fun hour !
I love the list of characters in the new book--there seem to be a lot of new names to keep straight. By the way , it is fun to read the acknowledgement page too !! I can always visualize the area so well, since we have been to Hearst Castle and other features around there many times. My husbands sister is buried near Cambria, and I may have mentioned we found the house she lived in. It's a restaurant now, and was closed but the owner let us in for a moment to get a picture by the fireplace. So Molly is next? I guess she and Barry will always be my favorites, but the others are great too.
I have a horrible time with electronincs, it is helpful to have grandchildren to help . Hardly anything comes with an instruction book anymore--you can dig on the computer, or call a kid !
LInda Osborn, The ants came back here too. Though now they seem gone again. I hope it lasts. I only recently discovered how nice Cambria is. I actually have Molly making a trip up there in the next book. We went there last Christmas to see the holiday light display at the Cambria Pines place which is sort of like Vista Del Mar.
With AI taking over everything I really wonder what life will be like in about 10 years. Will a robot just be available to fix everything? I wonder. I keep trying to think of professions that will not become obsolete. Plumber, electrician? I don't know. But technology is sure a challenge.

I'm glad you fixed your washing machine. I have had similar experiences with my MacBook Air. It is getting older. The one good thing I like is zoom. I take two Zumba classes that I would not be able to access without zoom. I'm excited to read about Molly's trip to Cambria. I loved my visits there.
