I am in North Carolina dealing with my brother's place. The first day was the worst because didn't know what I would find. There was residue where he was found and damage from where the police broke in. But bad as it was, I was okay. I arranged for a service that does such thing to decontaminate the area. I started dealing with all his business. I'm grateful my son came along and has been a wizard at taking care of things.
It's beautiful here with forest of tall trees everywhere. The sky turns a beautiful iridescent blue as it gets dark. A soft breeze rustles the warm sultry air. There's sweet tea and lots of barbecue. The people I''ve dealt with have been friendly and helpful. I haven't watched the news or kept up that much online and it has been easy to push away all that is going on. For the first time in months, I ate in a restaurant.
We will have managed to do what we set out to do. The door is fixed, tomorrow the cleaning will be done and I have arranged to pick up his ashes.
I am still a little stunned. A little over a week ago, I never would have guessed I'd be here for this reason. It is amazing how we rise to the occasion, whatever it is.

I'm so glad to hear you are ok. I'm also glad your son is there to help and for support. I'm sorry for your loss. You are doing a great job in an unexpected situation. Stay safe.
How amazing that you are finding some good things about such a difficult situation.
Chkntza, it was a difficult trip. Wednesday was such a long day, I actually thought it was two days. The hardest part was going to my brother's the first time since it was a complete unknown and I didn't know how I would handle it. Sometimes I surprise myself. I was okay. Thank you for your nice thoughts.
Linda, my son was fantastic. We managed to spend a real lot of time together in an emotional situation without getting on each other's nerves. He and I are a lot alike and we tend to stay positive and find something enjoyable even in the worst situations.
Greeat read thankyou
