Tension

What a week!  It’s hard to think about anything but the election when there are endless updates that really are still just about what might be.

But life goes on. I sent in the edits of ONE FOR THE HOOKS a few days early.  Now, I’m turning my attention to WRITING A WRONG, the second book in the Writer for Hire series and the still unnamed 8th Yarn Retreat book.  Though I have to admit that with this feeling that any minute the election could be settled is making it hard to concentrate.

Have mask will travel.  It’s off to North Carolina next week to check on the work being done to my brother’s place and to sell his car.  There was pressure to do the trip next week, because after that travel gets crazy because of Thanksgiving.  Even though less people will probably travel this year,  the number of flights is way down and prices are up.

Every time we’ve gone there, it’s been different.  What’s closed, what’s open.  Can you eat inside or not?  We’ve been staying at the same Marriott Residence will is well set up to deal with whatever.  There are two rooms with a kitchen.  This will be the third time going there and the area is starting to feel familiar.

It’s really true that cats pick their humans.  Over the years we have had two cats show up at our door and come in to stay, never to stray .  And of the two cats that recently moved in, one of them has decided that I belong to her.  I didn’t notice at first, but my family pointed out that Kitten’s hangout spots are also mine.  She’s on the kitchen table when I have my coffee and then she moves into my lap.  The position she really favors is with her head on my shoulder.  She comes into my writing room when I’m working.  She sits on the couch in the room where I watch television, though lately she’s left the couch in favor of my lap.

Now it’s back to watching and waiting for the election to settle and the buzz of nervous I feel to go away.
