It used to be considering boring to talk about the weather, but then weather was boring then or at least predictable. Summers in the San Fernando Valley were hot and dry. By September the air was so dry it felt light and made the heat not seem bad.
Not this year. It's been one long bout of monsoon moisture with billows of eerie clouds showing up over the mountains almost daily. For the past 8 days, the temperatures have been well over 100 made worse by humidity so that the nights don't really cool off.
And now Hurricane Kay is working her way up here from Baja California and while the cool water temperatures around here will keep the hurricane from hitting land, there is the threat of winds and a tropical rainstorm that according to some weather person, drop a years worth of rain over the weekend. In fairness, the prediction keeps changing and who knows what will really happen. Maybe just a drizzle?
We're all hoping for rain, but just enough to water everything down and put out the forest fires.
Meanwhile I am forging ahead with my manuscript, so far keeping to writing 4000 words a day which will keep me on track to make my deadline.
As I told my son, that's not just typing 4000 words, but coming up with the 4000 words to type.
All I can say is may the muse stay with me.

The last of my family water polo players has a game today, so it probably will rain. My husband, our son and younger daughter, and all 4 of my son's kids--every one a good varsity player. I really want to see this last season--fingers crossed.
Hope Jakey is enjoying school. He sounds like he is very sharp. Have a good week, lots of words to write !!
Linda,
I hope they got the game in before the rain. It didn't start here until around 6.
My husband got covid (I didn't get it) so Jakey hasn't been here in a while. He's here now. School is an adjustment, but he seems to be okay.
I hope you have a good week, too!
We unfortunately didn't get any rain in my part of LA, although there's been some humidity. But when I was in Minneapolis for Bouchercon there was some rain one night.
