The good news is that I got the cover for KNOT DEAD AGAIN and I like.  I also got the proof reading pages for the manuscript which means the book will be coming out soon.

I am closing in on finishing CLASSY YARNS and then.....

We had been noticing the windows fogging up and it feeling damp inside, but thought it was connected to the continued rainstorms we've had.  We were wrong.  Wednesday our plumbing found out that we had a ruptured hot water pipe that runs under the house.  The hardwood floors above had become warped.

So, the hot water is turned off until the pipe can be fixed, but first everything has to be dried out.  A crew came from a restoration company set up fans and a dihumidifier and broke the news that the floor will have to be ripped up and replaced.  It sounds like wind tunnel in here.  I'm waiting to hear from an insurance adjuster.  After spending my morning dealing with all that, it's hard to concentrate on what's going on at the school house yarn shop.

But the good news is that we know what the problem is and it is on the way to being solved.  And then it will all slip back and just be a memory of something that happened.

Good morning -- Wow, that is a major mess -- hope it can be dealt with quickly. You may need to make a stack of granny squares to handle the stress!!

You, chkntza and I have been having a crochet-along with our granny square blankets, each doing a different version. Mine is using white yarn and a variegated blue yarn called "Fluffy Clouds" -- it's from Herrschner's. Their yarns are beautiful -- most are a full 8 ounce skein and they have a pull-tab to start the skein -- that is worth the price!!

I wasn't going to buy more yarn but found some I couldn't resist. My mother had told me that when her younger brother was about four years old and was being scolded for doing something naughty, he'd say "But Mama, I has-a do it." That's how I feel about yarn -- I has-a do it.

I'm ready to pre-order "Knot Dead Again" when it's ready. Right now, I'm re-reading the first crochet mystery book -- just waiting for new adventures of Molly and her cohorts.

Enjoy your day as best you can -- I'll be finishing my granny blanket -- I has-a do it!!

Patty, working on the granny square is helping. I was going to stick with the strips yarn, but decided to put some black rows in.

Fluffy Clouds sounds nice and soft. The Red Heart yarn is not soft. I understand how sometimes yarn just speaks to you.

The situation here is difficult, but all the fans blowing are drying everything out. I am just relieved that it is being taken care of.

Red Heart yarn isn't nearly as nice as it used to be. Usually the yarn will get softer after washing and using a fabric softener but it shouldn't be almost scratchy to begin with. Herrschner's yarn is almost always soft -- the only problem I've had is some of the skeins don't have the pull tag and sometimes a tail of yarn is hard to find -- half the skein pulls out from the middle!! That happens with Red Heart, too.

Adding black rows with the bright stripes will look very nice. I love pink and black together -- Project Linus recipients are up to 18 years of age so pink and black would be appropriate for an older girl. That may be my next project.

Hope those fans keep blowing and all is well soon,

Memories __So many major things have happened since my husband passed 10 years ago.. The FIRST one, barely a month after he was gone, was a broken water line behind a toilet.
The entire house flooded before the fire dept could get the water turned off. We had the big fans roaring for a couple of days.
The insurance company suggested a couple of names to call for estimates, and the first guy went to a bedroon and pulled off a chunk of tile. I told him it was original to the house, so it probably had asbestos. He proceeded to go to three other rooms with exactly the same tile and break a chunk in each room. If tile is unbroken, the asbestos just dries out and is not harmful.
Naturally this clever guy did NOT get the job !! it did take 30 days to get the floors redone !! A long, cold, January.

Patty, I will have to check out herrshner's yarn. Pink and black sounds nice. The fans are still blowing and for once no steamed up windows. Other than that everything seems on hold until I hear from the insurance company.

Linda Osborn, wow, that sounds like a mess and even worse the timing. You already had a lot to deal with without a flood. And what an idiot guy. I bet it was a long cold January.

Cute cover, Betty. And sorry to hear about your plumbing issue but glad you're getting it straightened out.

Linda, thanks!

I'm so sorry to hear about the plumbing issue but I am glad it is getting fixed. That reminds me of when it rained into my condo and the rain went through the roof and through the floor to the downstairs neighbor. So I one of those blower things too. I love the cover of the new book and I am excited to read it. I love your wonderful attitude.

Chkntza, wow, that must have been some leak to go to your downstair's neighbor. The days are ticking by and soon, well, in another three or four days the blowers will be gone. The insurance adjuster is coming on Wednesday and I get the feeling the hot water pipe won't be fixed until he comes. I finished a book with roofers hammering over my head, so I will manage with this.

I love the cover, too. I do my best to stay cheerful
