Short Post

This written under  duress.  I am writing on my son's laptop. There were hassles signing in.  The laptop is on a shakey table and there is a baseball game in the background that someone else is watching.  I am limited to where I can work because the portable internet only works in this room.

I am in Chicago where it was a perfect fall day, crisp, sunny and blue sky without a cloud.  We went to Lincoln Park Zoo.  The zoo is free but parking is only free for 30 minutes.  At 31 minutes to 3 hours, its $30. It was the last hour that the zoo was open and a lot of stuff was already closed, so we were gone in 29 minutes.  I did see the lions.  But I'm not so sold on zoos.  I think the way Linda saw the animals is a lot better.

After the zoo we drove through Lincoln Park.  The streets are from a time when there weren't a lot of cars which means they are narrow, but that doesn't mean there were double buses and bicycles.  It was a relief to get on the expressway where the traffic was clogged, but no bicycles or buses.

We were our way for our favorite Chicago pizza.  Lou Maltnati's is so good.  So good that we'll go there on the way to the airport.

I keep hitting something on the computer that makes a screen come up covering my work.  And then there was a voice that seemed like a ghost.  It was from another program on this computer.

I know I said I could write anywhere, anytime-- But there was just another interruption-- and the leftover pizza is calling my name.

Good morning -- That was a quick in and out at the zoo,, but you got free parking! I remember going to the zoo on my only trip to Chicago many years ago -- first and only time I've seen live pandas. The zoo in Fort Worth is spectacular -- built so it looks like a natural habitat -- we spent hours there.

It rained this morning -- really hard for about a minute!! There is a skylight above the kitchen island and the rain hitting it is so loud -- drowns out the tv.

Every year there are ducks that swoop into the swimming pool -- they arrived this morning -- five of them -- most ever. I named the three last year Ducky Duddles, Dudley and Dora. My daughter and I won a prize at a baby shower by knowing the words to the song about Ducky Duddles -- no one else had even heard of it.

I'm almost done with the shawl for my daughter, then back to blankets. I'm using lots of stripes yarn -- makes a great pattern and very few yarn ends to weave it -- a big plus!!

Enjoy your visit in Chicago and the rest of your pizza!! My daughter-in-law is from Chicago and she says the pizza is the best.

Enjoy Chicago--and your pizza, Betty! Sounds as if your short zoo visit was worth it too.

Oh Chicago. I do miss it in the fall. Lincoln Park Zoo and Lou Malnati's. Two favorites. I remember when the parking was free and then metered. It was still a cheap outing even with the meter. $30??? Yikes.

Life is returning to normal in my area of Florida. Not so much for others. Hoping and praying hurricane season is quiet. Peace.

Patty, zoos that are like natural habitats are the best. I bet the rain was a welcome relief. Your daughter in love is right Chicago pizza is the best. You are like a crocheting machine.

Linda Johnston, it has been perfect weather. There are lots of fall colors. I'm sure there is more pizza in store before we leave.

Enjoy your Chicago trip. Unless I am mixing this up the Shedd Aquarium was my favorite Chicago attraction. The pizza sounds so good.

Sally, parking costs are crazy. I'm glad life is returning to normal for you. It must be horrible in the areas that were badly hit. I hope that is the end of it.

Anonymous, I passed the She'd Aquarium today and was noting what an attractive building it is. The pizza was great
