It has mostly been a week off from working on any writing projects---well, except for ideas about things I'm working on that come up and I write down. The trick is to find them all when I'm ready to work on whatever there for.
I am doing the live thing on Tuesday with Karen Smith. Even though it is the book birthday for MURDER BY THE HOOK, I will be talking about DEATH AMONG THE STITCHES. It's supposed to be more or less a conversation between us. She already read my book and sent me a bunch of great questions she can ask me. I am reading her book, MURDER MARKS THE PAGE, now and coming up with questions I can ask her.
She is very specific about her descriptions and I'm curious if she is working from a three dimensional thing or her imagination is that precise. It is a very nice book with characters you feel something for.
The way I read has changed since I started putting out books. I am following the story, but also how the plot is threaded through and how different elements are brought in. I actually watch TV the same way. It is like active watching. I have an internal conversation going on about what is happening in a book or on a screen.
I learn from all of it.

Good morning -- I am eagerly awaiting next Tuesday when the next Tarzana Hookers book will arrive -- always a good read.
My week has been very much as usual -- necessities in my little condo to keep it neat and tidy -- lots of crocheting. I'm loving the speckled, striped and variegated yarns -- right now I'm using a Red Heart yarn called "Baby Rainbow." Gorgeous pastels -- just rows of double crochet make a beautiful blanket -- a loopy edging gives it a nice finish.
My excitement for the day is getting a new printer -- my old one stopped making copies months ago, then I started getting messages that it wasn't connected to the wifi, which it is. I decided it was time for out with the old, in with the new. My daughter recommended one to me -- very simple to use -- my son ordered it from Amazon last night and it will be delivered this morning -- that's quick!! He'll do whatever needs doing to connect it.
I had a nice letter from a Texas friend -- I did some catering and she asked if, now that I'm not there anymore, I'd share some of my recipes. Sure will -- I have a lot and I can't seem to stop collecting new ones, even though I don't cook much anymore. I had more than 125 cookbooks at one time but have whittled them down to a favorite few plus a file box full of printed pages. I'll add the recipe from the new Molly book!!
Enjoy your day -- keep track of the notes you make about book ideas!!
There are many things I love about your books. One thing is that they are not formulaic. They keep me guessing and I rarely have the mystery figured out when it comes to an end. Not true for many other crime/mystery books and shows. I've become a BritBox fan and watch a lot of Father Brown. I generally always know 'who dun it'. Still fun though and sometimes I'm still surprised.
I'm working on a granny square scarf. I found some small squares I did a while ago and I'm putting them together. I like it so far.
Happy weekend!
Patty, it's great how the striped and variegated yarn give multiple colors without having to change yarns.
I have gone through a number of printers. It doesn't seem to matter what kind--they only last so long. One of the problems is with the wifi connection. The one I have now keeps losing the connection and I have to play with it to get it to work.
You did catering too. You have certainly done a lot of different things.
Enjoy your day!
i got a new printer recently, nice and easy so far. my new keyboard is large print with colored lights changing all the time. Very cool. Next Tuesday is my first cataract surgery, very nervous about that.Where is the new Molly book hiding? i can't find it anywhere on Amazon, even as preorder.i should be able to read it in a couple of weks. i want to be sure i have a copy.
Danny connected my printer -- so far, so good. It prints rather slowly so wouldn't work for someone who does a lot but for me, it's fine.
Linda, I had cataract surgery 12 years ago -- quick and easy. Absolutely no pain or discomfort whatsoever. Best wishes that yours goes well.
Sally, I'm glad I keep you guessing. It's nice that you found a use for your granny squares. I think they make interesting looking scarves. I don't know if you watch Elsbeth, but she has some really nice crocheted accessories. One week, she had a little rose pinned to her shirt right around her throat. I thought it was lovely.
Happy Weekend!
Linda Osborn, I just checked Amazon and Murder by the Hook showed up. Is that where you were looking? I hope you saw Patty's note about cataracts. There's nothing like hearing from someone who has has it done. Sending good vibes that it goes well.
Yes i have been looking at Amazon, but i an not finding the book. Thanks to Patty for he kind words about the cataracts. I guess a reader just hates the thought of possible damage to an eye. Mine developed fast, and i thought I was reading and using the computer too much.
Linda I wish you all the best on Tuesday. I'll be thinking about you on Tuesday. All my friends who have had cataract surgery said it was nothing. I am not brave like they are. I'm like you. I have a cataract but right now I am living with it.
Have fun with your interview, Betty. They can be enjoyable!
