This Week

It’s almost time! The Los Angeles Times Festival of Books is next weekend. I’ve mentioned it several times here. It’s being held at the University of Southern California campus on the weekend of April 26 and 27 this year. Also as I’ve mentioned, I’ll be at the Sisters in Crime booth and Mystery Writers of America booth at different times on Sunday, the 27th. I was also invited to participate at the Romance Writers of America booth but unfortunately the timing didn’t work out. I’ll try to visit there on Sunday as well, though.

Meanwhile, I continue to work on the second book in my new series for Harlequin Romantic Suspense. It’s moving right along, and I’m having fun with it.

I’m also having fun continuing to research an idea for a new series that I had a while back. I’ve done a little plotting for it too, and I’m hoping it’ll go somewhere soon. On the other hand, it’s been really fun to research it, and if that’s all that results… well, I’ll definitely enjoy continuing to research it anyway.

And yes, if I ever write it, it’ll definitely contain dogs—like everything else I write!

Did you know yesterday was Earth Day? I did—and I really hope things with our earth, environment and wildlife improve. A lot.

Good morning -- You are busy, busy -- sounds good!!

My daughter called me with sad news yesterday -- she had to have her little dog put down. Scooty was 17 years old, a chihuahua/Jack Russell mix. He'd developed congestive heart failure and then his bladder totally shut down -- he couldn't pass urine at all. She loved that little guy.

I continue with my crocheting, as always. I try to make one blanket a week -- I'm actually one ahead of my goal this month -- yay!!

Enjoy your day, your week and your dogs!!

Oh, so sorry to hear about Scooty, Patty. At least he lived to a really good age for a dog. But it's always so hard to lose a furry family member.

Enjoy your crocheting! Congrats on being ahead of your goal.

And thanks! Just took our dogs for a walk.

I just had a funny memory from long ago. I got a weekly newspaper from a very small Nebraska town near where a friend ranched. Mostly local news and a column called "Meet Your Neighbors." It gave a bit of information about the person and usually included a recipe. One woman said her plans for the summer were to help her husband slaughter the pigs on their farm and to read all of the Harlequin romance novels!! That struck me as a funny combination. I do use the cookie recipe she included -- really good!!

That's definitely a funny combination, Patty--and a potentially difficult feat, reading all of the Harlequin romance novels! I always like scanning through small newspapers as well as large, and doing any crossword puzzles.
