The Big Rewrite

The rewrite of SCONED TO DEATH is turning out to be more like writing for the first time.  With all that was going on when I was writing the first draft, I never really got into the story.  The stuff I wrote turned out to be redundant and all over the place.

Oddly enough, there are more distractions to deal with now, but I am more into the story.  I can tell because even when I leave the computer, the story keeps going in my head.  That leads to notes all over the place which I usually can't read.  Even when I am at the computer, surprises pop out.

I am just at the conclusion of the middle and now things will turn toward the end.  I have it figured out how when Annie Sara confronts the killer.  Now I need to figure the logistics to put everyone in the right place at the right time.

Just as I found out that Jakey starts school next week which changes everything.  That and husband's doctor's appointments. With fracture, he can only walk with a walker, so I have to get a wheel chair at Kaiser and roll him in.  It's lucky that I got used to how they work.  The first time, there were a lot of sudden stops when I let go of the handle which is the breaks.

Everything is in flux and I don't even know what normal is anymore.

Good morning -- Bless your heart, you do have a lot going on. Wheelchairs can be a pain -- I almost flipped Floyd out several times by inadvertently braking!!

School started here last Monday -- my grandson is a sophomore this year. Doesn't seem possible he's that old!! Will Jakey be with you all the time?

I've been having a "Granny Fest" -- making several versions of a granny square blanket -- so far, I've made a big granny square and a granny rectangle. I'm working on a horizontal stripes granny -- next will be a solid granny square and then a granny pentagon. I've never made the pentagon as a blanket -- may work, may not.

Hope all the people in "Sconed to Death" are in the right place at the right time -- looking forward to reading the book.

Enjoy your day as best you can -- a few household chores and then more crocheting for me.

How great that your husband is already on a walker. it took 3 months after my break and surgery.
Some of our schools start next week, and others not for 2 or 3 more weeks. My son and daughter in law teach in different districts, so they always start and stop and have vacations at very different times. Only one of their 4 kids is still in college, but when they were all at it the vacations were crazy--elementary, jr high, high school, and college, plus the two parents on different times. Somehow we always found a week when all of them, plus the rest of the family, could camp in Yosemite.
Things will slow down a bit with Jake back in school, but I'm sure you will miss him too. Happy rewriting !!

Things do still seem difficult in your life, Betty, but it sounds as if they're improving a bit. Hope so!

Patty, that braking is tricky with the wheel chairs. Is that high school or college for your grandson. Either way, he is pretty grown up. It is just so amazing to watch grandkids come into themselves. Jakey will be with us a lot. He's going to a new school and we'll be picking him after school.

Your projects sound great. A granny pentagon sounds interesting.

It's nice to get the chores out of the way and then crochet.

Linda Osborn, my husband's injury was a fracture and then he fell when he got home from rehab and got another fracture. He can walk with the walker, but isn't walking much.

It's crazy how schools are on such different schedules now. I bet those Yosemite trips were great.

I thank my lucky stars that I will still see Jakey almost every day.

Enjoy your weekend!

Lifes challenges are real and losing the power for a while puts things into perspective. Always a delight when the lights come back on. Hope each week brings improvements.
