After a particularly draining day, I decided that I needed to do something for myself. Something that would make me feel better and hopefully make me smile.
These days I dress for comfort first which mean stretchy pants and often a roomy T-shirt. I have a collection of them that I wear. Some are thirty years old. Some of my favorites came from the Art Institute in Chicago. The day that I was feeling so worn out, I was wearing one that had the heading of History of Comedy and a bunch of caricatures of famous comedians. It made me think of treating myself to a new T-shirt.
I went right to Amazon to see what they had to offer. As soon as I saw the new rendition of the painting The Scream, I knew it was just what I was looking for. It both expressed how I felt and made me laugh. With a few clicks, it was only the way to me.
The thing about wearing T-shirts with sayings is that you're sharing something with whoever it views it. It occurred to me that other people might get a smile when they saw the shirt. A win-win. It made me feel better and maybe I could pass it on.
We'll have to see what happens.

Good morning -- Love your t-shirt -- perfect statement!! It definitely made me smile.
Monsoon season in Arizona was officially over Sept. 30 but we've had very heavy rain several times since then. The weather has definitely cooled.
I've been reading and crocheting -- "The Secret of Secrets" was hard to put down. Also reread one of my very favorites -- "Yellow Crocus" -- story about a slave girl who is brought in to be the wet nurse to a plantation owner's new baby, and how their lives are intertwined. I've read it at least four times.
I'm working on another ripple afghan, using ombre yarn. It looks good but I like the bitty stripes for this pattern.
Have also been in a baking mood -- my son enjoys zucchini bread and grandson likes banana bread so I've made some of each. The zucchini is my favorite -- other than shredding the zucchini, it's quick and easy to make. I always use disposable foil baking pans.
Any word on when "Sconed to Death" will be released? I'm ready to read!!
Enjoy your day.
I love it. Perfect for the season. Have a good weekend.
T-shirts are definitely fun and communicative, Betty. Love your post! My favorite t-shirts have animals on them, mostly Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, or speak to saving things like national parks. Others I've picked up on trips for many years and represent where I was.
Patty, it seems like a belated blast of monsoon season. I'm sure you appreciate the cooler weather. It's gotten cooler here.
When you reread YELLOW CROCUS do you see it in a new light?
The ombre yarn must keep it interesting to see how the colors play out.
I'm sure your baking is appreciated. I'm with you with the disposable pans. Sometimes I line them with parchment and then can use them again with minor cleaning.
I am still waiting for the edits of SCONED TO DEATH and they may want to change the title. I think the release date is next August. Because I turned it in a few weeks late, they had to move up the release date.
Enjoy the cool breeze!
Sally, I knew the shirt was perfect the moment I saw it on Amazon. I hope when I wear it that people get a laugh. We all need one. I hope your weather has cooled down.
Linda Johnston, I like to get T-shirts as souvenirs as well. I'm sure the ones with the Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are conversation starters.
Yes, I see details I've forgotten from the previous reading of "Yellow Crocus." The book is written with such detail that I can picture what is happening -- I highly recommend it.
Phooey, hate to have to wait until next August for your book -- can you sneak a Hookers book in?
Patty, the Yarn Retreat book I'm writing now will come out sooner. Probably early next year. Then I'll write the next Hookers book.
I love the tee shirt! I have a tee shirt collection made up of vacations tee shirts, tee shirts from shows I've seen, holiday tee shirts and lots of others. Now that I am retired my daily outfit is jeans and a tee shirt. I wear a different tee shirt everyday.
Miriam, a collection of tee shirts are more than clothes. They are fun, expression and memories. It's kind of like showing the world who you are.
