Weekly Craft Project: Round Up Part Two

At the beginning of the year, I shared that one of my goals was to do something crafty once a week whether it's a whole project or part of a project. I thought it would be fun (and easy blog post to write, to be totally honest with everyone) to share some of the projects I have completed during this, roughly, four and half months of the year. During vacation this year and at the Stamp and Scrapbook Expo, I was able to try a few new to me crafts, which was something else I wanted to do this year. My next "craft bucket list" item is to make a card using a Create-a-Card die I got from HSN a couple of months ago.

In no particular order because the pictures weren't dated when I saved them:

2018 Craft Projects from April 20-August 16:

Added vinyl to a Project Life Binder Album. This was the first time
I decorated an album myself. I usually have them
embossed.

A t-shirt I made to wear at a Disney themed crop.

I hadn't made any die cuts in awhile, and had forgotten
how much I enjoyed making them.

Cards from a Queen and Co kit. I still have all the cards.
Having a hard time mailing them. I might keep them.

My projects from classes and make and takes from the
Stamp and Scrapbook Expo in Chantilly, VA. One of my
favorite weekends of the year. First time I used vinyl
to create a sign.

During our vacation, I took some craft classes at the
Massanutten Resort in Virginia. The soap and jewelry
classes were new crafts for me.

March is National Craft Month

In my plans was to create a fantastic blog post about National Craft Month but I'm finding today that the stuffiness in my head from a cold is affecting my brain. National Craft month was started in 1994 by the Craft and Hobby Association (CHA) to encourage people to try their hand and crating and experience some of it's many benefits, including lowering stress levels.

Over the years, I've tried many types of crafts (in the early 90s: decorating teddy bears, cross stitching, latch hook, and later started card making, scrapbooking, sewing, paper/vinyl crafting, and crocheting). Some of the crafts I no longer do and wish I could find the pictures of my earlier creations so I can create a crafting through my life scrapbook.

Right now, my crafting time is taken with crocheting, scrapbooking and vinyl designs. Here are some pictures of a few of my recent projects:

A layout for the anniversary album using a Lilly Pad Pages layout kit.

Decorated my Cricut with vinyl

Merboy tail. I had a request from a little guy for a boy tail as I had made his sister one (of course that meant he needed one of his own).

The Disney Project Box

In my quest to organize my scrapbook supplies better for crops, I purchased an IRIS Portable Scrapbook File box. I took it for its first crop outing a few weeks ago, and I loved it. It made packing for the crop easier as all of Disney embellishments and paper were in one place. The only issue I've run into is having to open up the three file boxes I purchased to see which one contained the project I was working on. (other boxes are cardstock and a cruise album project.) I got tired of opening them up to check, so I decided to be brave and vinyl. I've wanted to use vinyl for the longest time (purchased some over a year ago) but always talked myself out of it. I was so afraid I'd mess up and waste the vinyl. It occurred to me I was wasting money if I purchased a craft supply and never used it. So, I did it! I labeled my Disney box and now I want to vinyl more things.

The top of the box holds a small container to place embellishments. I love being able to keep the paper, stickers, and 3D embellishments for the album project together. There are also three hanging folders inside where I put completed layouts (when I'm at a crop), folder for paper scraps I might be able to use later, and then pattern paper that I purchased by the sheet rather than in a pack.

Next on my crafting list is to vinyl my other boxes. I know I can find a cute cruise ship file.
